I apologize for the many spambots that have gone and created new pages. Unfortunately, this is how it's like on many other wikis and we try our best we can to keep deleting and blocking (although you may not see us apply local blocks, we definitely apply global blocks to users through our RegexBlock extension). I definitely try to help although admittedly the admins here have been able to get to deleting them faster than I can, and I want to thank all of you for working hard to take care of them! I do have the ability though to be able to make this situation easier to handler, which includes installing AbuseFilter, and re-configuring the wiki so e.g account creation is disabled, changing who can edit, etc. Since this affects the entire community, I would like to ask be |

To expand more on AbuseFilter: AbuseFilter is an extension that basically allows you to create a combination of rules that can check for patterns of a spambot. It has it's own syntax but it's easy to understand once you get into it, which is explained at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:AbuseFilter/Rules_format. I can also pre-install filters, and rights will be given to administrators to be able to use the extension, if this community thinks this is OK. For privacy reasons, certain rights can't be given such as <code>abusefilter-private</code> or <code>abusefilter-view-private</code> (the full list is at https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:AbuseFilter#User_rights ), but you'll still be able to create and modify filters at will. |
