==Gem Hunt== |
||
The |
The Gem Hunt is a mini-game in Arte's Curio Shop where players can collect gems to sell for KinzCash or trade for the Crown of Wonder. |
||
You may notice there are different gem mines to choose from. They each have a tinted color. For instance, Flea Floater Mine has more green gems. This is helpful when you would like the gem of the day. (White gems include rainbow.) |
|||
The five gem mines are listed below. Gem rarities are common, uncommon, and rare. The interior of each mine has a tinted color corresponding to the color of the rare gem that may be found in that mine. However, each mine also contains specific gems of other colors according to the table below. |
|||
Players get three chances per day to find a gem. If a gem is found, the player may either keep it for their Gem Collection or sell it to Arte. Arte offers a random price according to the table below, or a fixed price if it's the Gem of the Day. Alternatively, players can find Doug the Dog in the Collector's Room in the Clubhouse and trade gems they've kept for special items. |

The Curio Shop is an area in Webkinz World owned by Arte Fact where players can buy WShop items (sometimes at special low prices), buy Curio Shop Only items, buy Rare items, and play the Gem Hunt mini game. The Curio Shop opened in March 2006.
Shopping
The Curio Shop offers 12 items for sale per hour, as well as 12 additional items for Deluxe Members. These items change on an hourly basis and include regular WShop, Curio Shop Only (CSO), and Rare items. The WShop and Curio Shop Only items may be discounted or inflated in price, while rare items are always the same price.
Preferred Customers
Arte has eight levels of friendship with his customers. Friendship level depends on how much merchandise is purchased and how much a player tips him each day. Tips can be left for 1, 10, 25, 50 or 100 KinzCash, and Arte can only be tipped once a day. If a player attempts to tip Arte more than once a day, he might be provoked to assert, "That's kind, but I don't take charity".
Customer Levels
- Level 1 - "You look like you're new here. Let me welcome you to the Curio Shop. I'm Arte. I've got some great deals here and some very special items you won't find anywhere else, so feel free to look around, but let me lay down some rules first. I don't take coupons and I don't take refunds. I've got new things for sale all the time and if I do happen to have a rare item on sale, you can only get one... got it?"[1]
- Level 2 - Arte says: "Welcome to the Curio Shop. Hope you find what you're looking for."
- Level 3 - Arte says: "Welcome back. See if you can find a bargain today."
- Level 4 - Arte says: "Hey, welcome back, if you see something you like, let me know."
- Level 5 - Arte says: "Good to see you again. Have fun shopping."
- Level 6 - Arte says: "Ahh, one of my favorite customers. Let's see what I can do for you."
- Level 7 - Arte says: "There you are! Always great to see you. My shop is your shop."
Once a player reaches Level 7, they can ask Arte what time sales and Rare item(s) will be available, and he will hold up a sign displaying the next sale/rare time.
Also note that until Level 7, it is possible to drop down levels if a player does not buy items or tip him for a long period of time. - Deluxe Member Level - If the player is a Deluxe Member, Arte may say: "Well, if it isn't one on my extra special customers! Welcome to the Curio Shop!" He will alternate between the Deluxe Membership phrase and the customer level phrase.
Increasing Customer Level
- Purchase items from Arte daily.
- Tip Arte daily. Players can tip Arte by selecting the green jar to his left, then choosing the amount of money. Tipping Arte isn't completely necessary, but it speeds up the process of moving up levels. Make sure to tip over 10 KinzCash, as small tips usually just offend Arte.
Sales
Prices of WShop and Curio Shop Only items fluctuate up and down. The price can range from 20% above market value to 20% below market value, in increments of 5%. Every hour, there is either a Regular Sale (-20% to +20%) or a Special Sale. When he has a Special Sale on, one item will be either 30% or 40% off. The Special Sale hour occurs randomly, up to 6 to 10 times per day. Statistically, Arte offers slightly more discounts than charges.
At the "Ask About Sales" section of the Curio Shop, Arte will give players a hint on when he will be having a sale. When a player has reached Level 7 of Arte's friendship, he will tell the exact time.
Rare Items
Every day, Arte offers at least one rare item in the Curio Shop.[2] These items are only available in the Curio Shop and some of them don't show up very often.
At the "Ask About Rare Items" section of the Curio Shop, Arte will give a hint when a Rare Item will appear in the Curio Shop. At Level 7, he will tell the exact time, but not the item.
A summary of all current (not retired) Rares can be found here.
Arte's Favorites: (Picture Guide) Curio Shop Only
Curio Shop Only items are indicated as "Arte's Favorites" in the Curio Shop.
If you are trying to achieve your level for your Key to Kinzville Quest, then this item counts towards the Quest.
Deluxe Membership Bonus Items
If you are a Deluxe Member, you will have an extra section of the Curio Shop where you can purchase an extra set of items each hour. Each day you will have the opportunity to purchase an extra rare item and extra sales items.
Items Retired from the WShop
Sometimes items are retired from the WShop but you can still buy them from Arte as one of Arte's Favorites.
Items Retired from the Curio Shop
The Hockey Theme was retired from the Curio Shop March 4, 2009. It was one of the first themes in Webkinz World, and was retired from the WShop sometime before August 25, 2007, making it the first retired WShop theme.
Ganz made a statement on April 16, 2010 that a rare theme would be retiring from the Curio Shop soon.[3] Later that month, the rare items from the Kooky Scientist Theme were retired.
Gem Hunt
The Gem Hunt is a mini-game in Arte's Curio Shop where players can collect gems to sell for KinzCash or trade for the Crown of Wonder.
The five gem mines are listed below. Gem rarities are common, uncommon, and rare. The interior of each mine has a tinted color corresponding to the color of the rare gem that may be found in that mine. However, each mine also contains specific gems of other colors according to the table below.
